This report is based on a qualitative analysis of content available on DjPunjab.com, including music videos, movie trailers, and interviews with Punjabi artists. The analysis covers a period of six months (January to June 2023) and includes a sample of 50 music videos and 20 movie trailers.
Platforms like DjPunjab did not just distribute music; they chronicled a massive shift in how relationships are conducted and perceived in Punjabi culture.
We don't just miss a website feature. We miss the feeling of downloading a song at 128kbps, putting headphones on, and listening to a story about two people defying the odds to be together. We miss the dhol that celebrated a union, not just a bank balance. We miss the lyrics that made us pick up a pen and write poetry to our own crushes.
