The 2000s saw Sabina demonstrate remarkable resilience, proving his ability to reinvent himself in the face of personal challenges. After a four-year hiatus due to a stroke and subsequent depression, he returned with , an album that, like its title suggests, deals with themes of recovery and mourning. He continued his prolific output with the gold-certified Vinagre y rosas (2009) and the collaborative album La orquesta del Titanic (2012) with Joan Manuel Serrat. His later albums, such as Lo niego todo (2017) , show an artist unafraid to reflect on his own mortality and legacy, proving that his creative fire remained undimmed. As of 2025, Sabina has indicated his retirement, making these later works a fitting and poignant conclusion to his recording career.
