Ffd Sketchup Plugin [updated] - Sketchy
Many designers avoid the plugin because they think it is "sketchy" (unreliable). Historically, early versions of FFD plugins for SketchUp had issues:
If you are deforming open meshes, use a "Weld" plugin first to ensure your edges form continuous curves, which respond much better to deformation lattices. Troubleshooting Common SketchyFFD Issues The Mesh Isn't Bending (It Stays Flat) sketchy ffd sketchup plugin

What felt sketchy
Creating organic, fluid, and complex geometric shapes in Trimble SketchUp can sometimes feel like forcing a square peg into a round hole. While SketchUp is excellent for hard-surface modeling, architectural layouts, and boxy structures, it naturally struggles with free-form deformation (FFD). One of the few known limitations of the classic version is that SketchyFFD sometimes struggles with (groups inside groups). If the plugin fails to deform properly, try exploding the interior groups into a single "loose" group before applying the FFD. Some users prefer using FredoScale's Taper Deformation for nested elements as it is generally faster.
