Serving as the album’s lead single, "Unsainted" features a haunting choral arrangement juxtaposed against a blistering, anthemic groove. Jay Weinberg’s drumming here is spectacular, proving definitively that he had fully mastered the monumental task of occupying the drum throne. Taylor’s lyrics ( "Oh, I'll never kill myself to save my soul" ) set the thematic tone: a refusal to bow to external expectations or false idols.
