The film begins when six-year-old Cenk Yilmaz faces an identity crisis at school. Because he is the son of a Turkish father and a German mother, he isn't selected for either the German or Turkish soccer team, and the Turkish kids tease him for not speaking the language. Confused and upset, he asks his family, "What am I? Turkish or German?"
