Changing the System Font to Thonburi (For Rooted/Power Users)

On most modern Android devices, the default system font is for Latin characters and Noto Sans Thai for Thai script. Noto Sans Thai is a "loopless" (sans-serif) design, which is often considered modern but may be less comfortable for long-form reading than looped fonts.

Android’s line-height metric (leading) is optimized for Roboto. Thonburi has taller ascenders. Fix: This is hard to fix without root (using Magisk to modify fallback_fonts.xml ). The non-root workaround is to use a lower display zoom in Settings > Display > Display size .

Download or create a Magisk module that replaces the default system sans-serif font configuration ( fonts.xml ). Flash the module via the Magisk app.

You cannot upload custom TTF to Canva’s Android app easily. However, you can use Picsart or Ibis Paint X which allow importing custom fonts from your storage. Design your text there, then export as an image.

Because Thai marks stack above characters, standard Android line heights often cut off the top elements. 2. Missing Characters or Glyphs
