At its heart, Mere Yaar Ki Shaadi Hai follows the life of Sanjay Malhotra, played by Uday Chopra, a young man in Mumbai living with his pragmatic roommate, Ria (Bipasha Basu in an extended special appearance). Sanjay’s life is turned upside down when he receives a phone call from his childhood friend, Anjali Sharma (Tulip Joshi), informing him of her imminent wedding to a wealthy NRI doctor, Rohit Khanna (Jimmy Sheirgill). It is only upon hearing this news that Sanjay realizes he has been in love with her all along, leading him on a mission to stop the wedding and confess his feelings.
