For Macs built between 2006 and 2010, Snow Leopard offers a lightweight footprint that maximizes system resources.
: A Mac’s ability to run a specific operating system is determined by its hardware, not its age. If your Mac is a later model that originally came with a newer OS (like Mountain Lion or Mavericks), it is very unlikely to be compatible with Snow Leopard due to driver and firmware limitations. Apple does not support installing older OS versions on newer hardware.
Before attempting to install 10.6, ensure your hardware is compatible. Snow Leopard requires an Intel processor; it will not run on PowerPC G4 or G5 Macs. It also requires at least 1GB of RAM and roughly 7GB of free disk space.
