The modern fight for LGBTQ+ rights, including transgender rights, can be traced back to a pivotal moment: the Stonewall Uprising. In the early hours of June 28, 1969, police raided the Stonewall Inn, a gay bar in New York City. The patrons fought back, sparking days of protests and riots.
